A fresh warning has been issued as regards beard keeping on how to stay safe amidst the outbreak of the dreaded coronavirus in Nigeria.

It will be recalled the Federal Ministry of Health on Friday morning confirmed the first case of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city.

Naija News reports that minister of health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, confirmed the case in a statement issued in the early hours of Friday, February 28, 2020, saying that the case involves an Italian citizen who works in Nigeria and just returned from Milan, Italy on the 25th of February 2020.

However, the Centre for Disease Control in the United States has revealed fresh details on how some certain types of beards can encourage exposure to the coronavirus.

The centre warned that facial hair can interfere with face masks and respirators hence the advise on types of beard and moustache to keep such that the hair should not cross the respirator sealing surface.

The infographic made available by the CDC displays some styles of beards and specifically highlighted the ones that are compatible with masks and respirators and encourage the prevention of coronavirus disease.

See the image below and be guided accordingly.

The centre warned that styles such as mutton chops and full beards are not recommended as they hinder the face masks and respirators but others such as side-whiskers, handlebar moustaches and some others can be used with caution.
