Police Nab 17 Suspected Cult Members In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has nabbed a number of cultists following a battle of power between two cult groups, the cultists were arrested on the scene after a tip-off by residents.

According to a statement made available to newsmen on the incident, 17 cultist members were arrested for causing chaos and inflicting injuries on each other over the claim of supremacy.

Responding to the incident, Bala Elkana, the Police PRO in Lagos State, disclosed that two cultists groups involved in violence and the command had successfully got hold of 17 suspects.

Naija News understands that the incident had happened between the Ijora Badia and Ikorodu cultist groups.

He said, “two rival cult groups armed with dangerous weapons engaged themselves in a battle for supremacy at Iso Isu in Ijora Badia and inflicted various degrees of injuries on each other on Friday last week.”

“The police got a distress call and mobilised police operatives from Ijora Badia Division and Special Strike Force on Social Miscreants from the Command Headquarters to the area where five suspects were arrested.”

“The suspects are Olaniyi Abiodun, Emola Kamal, Muritala Gbadeyanka, Kadiri Bashorun, and Adebayo Ebiesuwa, all between ages 18 and 28 years. They belong to Aiye and Eiye confraternities,” He said.

This is coming a few weeks after Delta State Police Command announced that its operatives arrested 50 cultists members who are said to be responsible for always causing chaos in the state.

Naija News understands that the group have been labelled for causing several fights with other confraternities, leading to robberies, killing lives and causing pandemonium in the community.
