Fayose Challenges FG, Fashola To Fix Ado Ekiti – Akure Road

The Federal Government of Nigeria and Minister of Works has been challenged by the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose to mend the major road which links Akure, Ondo State with Ado Ekiti in Ekiti State.

Fayose noted that the road is so dilapidated that motorists in the state had to take other routes to their destinations.

He said, “the road was too important to the economy of Ondo and Ekiti States as well as the well-being of the people of the States to be neglected completely by the Federal government.”

The former governor’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, noted that Fayose made the statements on Sunday at the Akure Airport, adding that the road has become a source of severe hardship for Nigerians, especially the people of Ekiti State who are the major users of the road.

Fayose, therefore, called on the Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola to make good use of his position to address the matter.

He said, “In the last one year, the road has become so bad that only people who are unmindful of its deplorable it use.”

“Info has it that innocent people who unknowingly ply the road are daily at the mercy of criminals.”

“Apart from attacks by criminals, the road is also a death trap for travellers as several lives have been lost in ghastly motor accidents.

“The federal government should, therefore, see to the fixing of the road so as to alleviate the suffering of commuters and restore the dead commercial activities in towns and villages along the road.”

Naija News recalls that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), about two months ago had accused Ayodele Fayose of forging signatures of party members to sell the party secretariat.

Barr. Gboyega Oguntuase, PDP Chairman in Ekiti state made these accusations known stated that the former Governor sold the party property to one of his cronies without informing the State Working Committee (SWC).
