Zamfara: PDP Chairman Dies After Peace Meeting

Imo PDP Chairman Defects To Another Party

Charles Ezekwem, the Imo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced his resignation from the party.

Ezekwem reportedly dumped the PDP and has communicated his decision to the party in a resignation letter on Monday in Owerri, the state capital.

Narrating the reason for his action, Ezekwem added that it was based on the approval of his supporters and the circumstances facing his party.

Naija News recalls some members of the Imo State House of Assembly also dumped their parties and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), shortly after the Supreme Court judgment which sacked Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP as the governor and installed Hope Uzodinma of the APC.

However, on his part, Ezekwem is yet as at press time to declare the new party he will be joining forces with.

His resignation letter reads in part “In view of the prevailing circumstances within my party, vis-a-vis my present standing as the state chairman of the PDP, in Imo state, and after due consultations with my family and with the approval of my supporters.

“I hereby tender my resignation as state chairman of PDP, Imo state and as a member of the party in the ward of Okigwe LGA, which has been duly communicated to the ward of Okigwe LGA.

“I thank the teeming population of Imo state PDP, who thoughtfully elected me as their state chairman. I sincerely regretted the inconveniences the party faced. I thank the party for the support they gave me and the opportunity to serve in that capacity.”
