APC Sets Date For Bayelsa, Kogi Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has slatted Thursday, August 29 for the election primaries in Kogi and Bayelsa states to select the candidates to represent the party in the November 16 election in the two states.

Naija News reports that the party has also announced that it will commence the sale of nomination and expression of interest form on Wednesday, July 10.

The party revealed that the sale of form would be at the party national secretariat in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The breakdown of the activities of the party was made known in a statement by the National Organising Secretary of the party, Emma Ibediro.

In the statement, Ibediro explained that aspirants are expected to pay the sum of  N20 million for the nomination form and N2.5 million for expression of interest form.

Ibediro said female aspirants and the physically challenged are also expected to pay 50 percent of the proscribed fees, but on the interest to contest in the upcoming election in either of the two states.

He noted emphatically that payment for this cause is to be made to the designated bank accounts of the party.

Naija News understands that the sale of the nomination form is expected to close on Tuesday, August 20 while submission of the form will close on Wednesday, August 21, in less than eight days to the primaries.

In the statement, Ibediro said all aspirants from the two states are to be screened on Thursday, August 22.

He noted that appeals arising from the primary election will hold on Monday, September 2.
