Atiku Narrowly Defeats Buhari In Edo State

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar defeated Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State.

According to reports declared by the State Collation Officer for the Presidential election, Prof. Ndowa Lale, at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Benin, Atiku recorded a narrow victory over Buhari in Edo state.

PDP’s Atiku scored 275,691 votes, while President Buhari of the APC scored 267,842 votes.

However, as regards number of councils won, Buhari won in 10 while Atiku won in eight.

Lale, who is the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port-Harcourt, put the total number of registered voters in the state at 2,150,127 while the total number of accredited voters was 604,915.

The total number of votes cast was 599,228, the number of valid votes was 560,711 while 38,517 votes were rejected.
