1. Presidency responds to Donald Trump’s alleged statement about Buhari

The Presidency has responded to the alleged statement made by US President Donald Trump after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari earlier in the year, saying it doesn’t respond to rumours.

Trump had allegedly described Buhari as lifeless after the meeting between the two world leaders earlier in the year.

2. President Buhari meets APC caucus in Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari last night met behind closed doors with the national caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Those at the meeting included the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, and the National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole.

3. Senator Jonah Jang joins 2019 presidential race

Former Governor of Plateau State and senator representing Plateau North in the National Assembly, Dr. Jonah David Jang has declared that he wants to be president in 2019.

Jang made the disclosure at the Plateau State office of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he officially presented letter of intend to contest the 2019 Presidential election.

4. FG turns down Kwankwaso’s request to use Eagle Square for his presidential declaration

The Federal Capital Territory Administration(FCTA) has turned down the request earlier approved for Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso to use the Eagle Squre for his 2019 presidential declaration.

The venue had earlier been reportedly approved but was reversed about 24 hours to the scheduled programme, forcing organizers to look for an alternative.

5. UK returns £70m looted funds to Nigeria

The United Kingdom says it has returned the sum of £70 million recovered from a Nigerian who was convicted of fraud in an Italian court.

British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Paul Arkwright, revealed this while addressing reporters in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

6. FG denies plan to sell NLNG

The Federal government of Nigeria has refuted allegations that it was making arrangement to put the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) on sale.

Dr Ibe Kachikwu, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, refuted the claims before an investigative hearing by House of Representatives Committee on Gas Resources and Allied Matters in Abuja.

7. Communications minister, Shittu gets presidential blessing to contest Oyo governorship election

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the request of the Minister of communication, Mr Adebayo Shittu, to join the gubernatorial race in the 2019 election in Oyo State.

The President gave the approval in a letter signed by the president and dated August 27, 2018.

8. Theresa May says Nigeria is home to World’s poorest people

Prime minister of the United Kingdom, Theresa May, says Nigeria is currently home to the highest number of “very poor people” in the world.

May stated this in Cape Town, South Africa, while adding that Africa is home to many poor people and host a quarter of the world’s displaced people.

9. Former PDP Delta governor, Uduaghan attends APC caucus meeting

Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, former Delta State Governor has been spotted on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, where President Muhammadu Buhari met with the All Progressive Congress (APC) caucus.

In recent times, Uduaghan, a two term governor of Delta State (2017-2015) on the Platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP) stated he was under pressure to switch to the APC.

10. Police impounds large quantity of imported military uniform in Abia

Abia State Police Command has impounded a large quantity of military uniforms allegedly imported from China and stocked at a warehouse in Aba.

Commissioner of Police, Mr Anthony Ogbizi, who made this disclosure at the Umuahia Central Police Station on Tuesday, said that the owner of the warehouse, one Michael Onuoha, was arrested for alleged conspiracy, aiding and abetting the unlawful procurement, importation and possession of the uniforms, which were mainly camouflage.
