Senator Buruji Kashamu, representing Ogun East in the National Assembly has been expelled by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State.

Three other members of the PDP in Ogun State Bayo Dayo, Segun Sarki and Sanimu Sodipo were also expelled on Monday.

The expulsion was announced by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan at the end of an emergency National Executive Committee meeting of the party in Abuja.

Mr. Kashamu, who is an ally of the former national chairman of the PDP, Ali Sheriff, is wanted in the U.S. for drug-related offences. He has repeatedly claimed he is innocent and has resisted moves to extradite him.

In May, the Court of Appealleared the coast for the federal government for the extradition Kashamu to the United States of America to face trial in a drug related offence.
