1. Buhari’s methods are yielding results for Nigeria – Lai Mohammed

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, has disclosed that the innovative measures introduced by President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is presently yielding result.

He said this while speaking at the the 2018 ‘Africa Together Conference’ at the University of Cambridge in the UK on Saturday.

2. Massive bomb blast rocks Borno state

No fewer than 20 persons were on Sunday killed and 48 others injured in a massive suspected Boko Haram explosion in Damboa, Borno State.

Security operatives mobilised to the scene, after the suspected terrorist attack discovered the dead and injured bodies.

3. MASSOB leader, Ralph Uwazuruike sentenced to jail

MASSOB leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, has been sentenced to one month in prison by a judge of an Owerri high court in Imo State for disobeying the order of the court to appear in a case in which he is plaintiff.

Counsel to the MASSOB boss, however claimed said that they had earlier appealed the contempt proceedings at the Appeal Court, but the judge decided to continued with the proceedings.

4. Makarfi declares interest in 2019 presidential race

A former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party and ex-Kaduna State governor, Ahmed Makarfi, says he will contest for Nigeria’s presidency in 2019.

Makarfi, who made the disclosure in an interview with journalists in Kaduna on Sunday, said he consulted widely before arriving at the decision.

5. APC disqualifies 19 aspirants from contesting at its national convention

The All Progressives Congress (APC), has disqualified 19 aspirants ahead of its scheduled June 23 national convention.

The appeal committee headed by Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, said said petitions were received against positions of National Organising Secretary, National Women Leader and others except the positions of the National Chairman and the National Secretary.

6. PDP denies fixing presidential nomination form price at N12m

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied demanding N12m from presidential aspirants wishing to contest on the party’s platform.

Speaking through a statement issued by its National Organising Secretary, Austin Akobundu, yesterday in Abuja, the party said its guidelines for 2019 presidential primary election was not yet ready.

7. Osinbajo, Oyegun to storm Ekiti state for Fayemi’s campaign

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo will Tuesday visit Ekiti State to flag off the governorship campaign of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Kayode Fayemi, for the July 14 election.

Other party leaders expected include the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, and the Chairman of the National Campaign Committee for Ekiti Election, Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, as well as members of his committee.

8. One killed, 29 arrested in Nasarawa cult clash

About 28 suspected cult members, have been arrested by the police in connection to the death of a man at Masaka in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The dead man simply known as Musa was reportedly killed during the clash of some cult group.

9. Group accuses INEC of registering foreigners to vote in 2019

The Southern and Middle Belt Leaders’ Forum has raised the alarm that the Independent National Electoral Commission has embarked on the registration of foreigners, especially from Niger Republic, to pave the way for electoral malpractices in 2019.

The forum, which stated this in a communiqué made available to journalists on Sunday, alleged that registration of foreigners could be one of the reasons why the Federal Government was in a haste to construct a rail from Kano, through Dambatta, Kazaure, Daura, Mashi, Katsina, Jibia and terminate in Maradi in the Niger Republic.

10. Mexico shock Germany in World cup clash

Mexico earned a shock 1-0 victory over defending champions, Germany at their Russia 2018 World cup clash on Sunday.

The goal, scored by highly-rated PSV Eindhoven forward, Hirving Lozano’s was enough to give Mexico all the three points.
