1. Lagos APC rejects tenure extension for Oyegun,others

The Lagos state chapter of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) have kicked against the tenure extension for its national chairman, John Oyegun.
According to the Lagos chapter of the APC, the tenure extension contadicts the party constitution.

2. 24 dead in fresh Benue attack, mass burial scheduled for Friday

Twenty four persons, mostly women and children, were on Monday killed in a fresh crisis at Omusu Edimoga in the Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.

The council Chairman, Olofu Ogwuche, stated this while conducting the state Governor, Samuel Ortom, round the affected community on Tuesday.

3. Boko Haram will never kidnap school girls again, Buhari vows

President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed that his administration would put everything in place to prevent any form of kidnap by the Boko Haram insurgents.
The president made the remarks while speaking through Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the National Defence College in Abuja.

4. House of reps summon Okonjo-Iweala, Malami, others over pension fraud

The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee investigating the activities of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms from 2010 to its dissolution and any successor agency yesterday summoned former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Mr. Abubakar Malami, former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoS), Mr. Steve Oronsaye, and the incumbent HoS, Winifred Oyo-Ita, over alleged fraud in management of pension assets during their reign in office.

The committee, chaired by Hon. Anayo Nnebe (PDP, Anambra), further summoned the former Chairman, Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms (PTFPR), Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina, and all members of the taskforce; the acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim. Magu; Chairman Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Bolaji Owasanoye, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele.

5. DSS releases Daily Independent bureau chief, Anthony Ezimakor

The Department of State Service ( DSS ) has released the Bureau Chief of Daily Independent , Tony Ezimakor after 7days in in custody after publication.

Ezimakor was released to his lawyer, Barr.Douglas Ekhator at about 10:30pm on Tuesday.

6. Aliyu Akwe-Doma, former governor of Nasarawa State is dead

The death has been reported of a former Nasarawa state governor, Aliyu Akwe-Doma.

Akwe-Doma reportedly died after a brief illness at a foreign hospital in Israel, according to his nephew, Ahmed Bako.

7. FUOYE students clash with commercial motor cyclists over transport fare

Students of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) and commercial motorcyclists,on Tuesday were involved in a fight which reported left no fewer than 20 persons injured.

It was gathered that trouble had started when a student and a commercial motorcyclist had a disagreemnet over fare, which later degenerated into a free for all fight.

8. Italy elects Nigeria-born Iwobi as first black senator

Toni Iwobi, a Nigerian IT entrepreneur who has spent 38 years in Italy, has become the first black senator in the European country.

He was elected in the industrial city of Brescia in northern Italy.

9. Oil marketers reach agreement with FG over N650bn subsidy arrears

Oil marketers say they have reached an agreement with the federal government on the payment of an outstanding N650 billion subsidy.

But in a statement jointly signed by Dapo Abiodun, chairman, DAPPMAN and Olufemi Adewole, executive secretary of the body, on Monday, the marketers said that “a series of constructive engagements and meetings had been held” between them and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the ministry of labour, and the presidency.

10. Real Madrid defeats PSG in Champions league clash

Real Madrid recorded a 5-2 aggregate win over PSG to dump the Paris club out of the champions league.

Madrid who have not had it easy on the domestic scene,powered past PSG on the European scene.
