1. Recovered assets would be sold – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, said all recovered mismanaged and misappropriated national assets would be sold off and proceeds paid into the treasury for the benefit of the country.

He said this in his home town of Daura when he hosted representatives of social groups in Daura Emirate.

2. Another suspected Boko Haram attack in Yobe state

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents on Monday, launched an attack on Dapchi, headquarters of Bursari local government area of Yobe state.

Reports have it that residents of the area fled into the bush to seek refuge while security has been reinforced in the affected area.

3. PDP attacks Buhari’s administration over fresh N10b NHIS scam

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to clear the air on the alleged N10 billion theft perpetrated by its officials at the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

4. Lagos to adopt bank payment of taxes

The Lagos state government under Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode has concluded plans to replace the payment of taxes by cash through bank payments.

The new system is expected to take effect from March 1, 2018.

5. Mbaise: Pope accepts Okpaleke’s resignation, appoints replacement

Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Bishop Peter Okpaleke whose appointment and consecration to head Ahiara, Mbaise Catholic Diocese in 2012, sparked off years of protest.

The Vatican also appointed the appointment of the Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, the Most Rev. Lucia Ugorji to take over as Apostolic Administrator of the diocese.

6. OAU pulls out of ASUU, forms new union

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) branch of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), at the weekend, decided to pull out of the national body of ASUU to form a new union.

This follows inability to resolve differences between the local chapter and national body of the union.

7. Jonathan ran a reckless government – Tinubu

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has slammed the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan of been reckless and paying off several individuals to keep quiet.

She said this during an interview session on a TVC programme, ‘your view’.

8. Produce my husband, Nnamdi Kanu’s wife tells FG

Uchechi Kanu, wife of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said she is not aware of the whereabouts of her husband, adding that she is not sure if he is alive or dead since security operatives raided his residence about six months ago.

She insisted her husband must be produced before any talk about 2019 elections.

9. I am not a part of Obasanjo’s coalition –  Soyinka

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has distanced himself from the ‘third force’ movement been spearheaded by ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He however advised government to critically examine the contents of the letter written by Chief Obasanjo as it had truth embedded in it.

10. Wigan shock Man. City in FA cup clash

Wigan Athletic, yesterday produced a shock result in their 5th round FA Cup tie against highly rated Manchester City.

A second half goal by Wigan striker, Grigg, was all that was needed to secure victory and dump City out of the FA cup tournament.
