1. Obasanjo warns Buhari not to contest 2019 presidential elections

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019.

He scored President Buhari low in some areas of governance and economy, advising him to retire and rest after the current tenure.

2. Police arrest, detain and release Ezekwesili

Men of the Abuja command of the Nigeria Police, yesterday, arrested former minister of education and convener of the Bring Back Our Girls Movement (BBOG), Obi Ezekwesili and some other members of the BBOG campaign group.

They, however after been released declared they won’t be intimidated by threats from security agents, promising to reconvene later today.

3. Tinubu, Akande hold emergency meeting with Buhari after Obasanjo’s letter

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and one time acting National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, Tuesday held a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in the State House.

The leaders, who arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 3.50p.m., barely a few hours after former President Olusegun Obasanjo released a 13-page statement on Buhari’s performance as Nigeria’s president,headed straight to the president’s residence and refused to speak with newsmen on their mission at the villa.

4. Presidency yet to react to Obasanjo’s bomb shell

Almost 24 hours after the bomb shell letter released by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on the Buhari administration, the presidency is yet to give an official position on the letter.

Obasanjo’s letter commended President Buhari’s efforts in certain areas, while also scoring him low in other areas, but ultimately calling on President Buhari not to seek a second term in office come 2019 general elections.

5. Dambazau holds meeting with security chiefs over herdsmen killings

The Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, is currently meeting heads of internal security agencies in a closed-door meeting in Abuja.

The meeting is targeted at providing solutions to the security challenges currently been experienced in the country

6. Justice Dahiru Musdapher, former CJN dies at 75

A former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Dahiru Musdapher, has died in a London hospital, family sources have revealed.

Though the cause of his death is yet to be ascertained, a family member shared the news of his demise on social media.

7. FG allocates N5.3b for grazing reserve development

The Federal Government has earmarked N5.30 billion on national grazing reserve development in the 2018 budget which is being considered by the National Assembly.

The budget is coming at a time when the country is grappling with herdsmen and farmers clashes, leaving scores of people dead, homeless, especially in Benue, Taraba and Ekiti states.

8. Lagos purchases 30 power bikes for security agents in the state

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday donated a total of thirty power bikes to security agencies operating in the State, saying that the donation was in line with the commitment of the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to boost security and enhance safety of lives and property.

The power bikes, funded by the Lagos State Lotteries Board, were donated to the Police Command in the State, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

9. EFCC arraigns former minister over N450m election fund fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Gombe Zonal office on Monday, January 22, 2018, arraigned the trio of Sarah Ochekpe, Evan Leo Sunday Jitong and Raymond Dabo before Justice H. M. Kurya of the Federal High Court, Jos, Plateau State, on two-count charge bordering on money laundering.

While Ochekpe was a former Minister of Water Resources during the tenure of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Evan and Raymond were the state deputy director for Goodluck/Sambo 2015 election campaign and former Acting Chairman of PDP, Plateau State respectively.

10. Okorocha, Wike rejects cattle colonies

Governors Rochas Okorocha of Imo state and Nyesom Wike of Rivers state have stated they won’t give any land for the cattle colonies been proposed by the federal government.

So far, only 16 northern states have keyed into plans to set up cattle colonies in their states.

11. Super Eagles beat Equitorial Guinea to qualify for CHAN quarter finals

The home based Super Eagles came from a goal down to beat their Equitorial Guinea counterparts in the on-going Chan tournament.

The win sees them top their group with 7 points and qualify for the quarter finals of the tournament.
