Dino Melaye drags Sahara Reporters to court over certificate scandal

SENATOR Dino Melaye today Thursday 23 March, filed a N5 billion libel suit against an online media platform, Sahara Reporters over a certificate scandal.

Melaye  a Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District,on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, filed the lawsuit against Sahara Reporters for alleged defamation of character, wrongful accusation, among other charges.

The suit, according to his media office, was at the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court, at 9am today.

Melaye, 43, has been embroiled in certificate scandal since Sahara Reporters published a report that the senator never graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he attended his first degree course.

Already, the Nigerian Senate’s ethics and privileges committee is investigating the issue after it was brought up by Senator Ali Ndume (APC, Borno South) brought up the issue during plenary.

Meanwhile, earlier today, Melaye, shared a picture of himself during his National Youth Service Corps in a bid to convince Nigerians that he attended and graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University.
