Senator Isiaka Adeleke, may be courting the trouble of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state for allegedly eyeing the governorship seat ahead of the 2018 election in the state.

Osun state APC has dared Adeleke, the first civilian governor of the state to make public his ambition in violation of its rule and face action.

The Point reports that the party used the opportunity to warn politicians in the state against violating its ban on declaration of such intention.

The report quoted Adekele’s special adviser on media and public relations, Olumide Lawal, as issuing a statement on the readiness of his boss to contest for governor against a warning from the chairman of the party in the state, Prince Adegboyega Famodun, that all those with such interest should put it on hold.

Famodun said such declaration was wrong at a time the state is faced with many challenges.

He was reported to have said: “What is most important for the party now is for everyone to join hands with Governor Rauf Aregbesola to solve problems confronting the state.”

Famodun also reacted: “I don’t think he (Adeleke) did. Some people said so, but the party has not received such declaration from Senator Adeleke.

“I need him (Adeleke) to come out to say that he wants to be governor of Osun State. I need my senator to come out openly to tell me that, ‘I, Isiaka Adeleke, want to be governor.’

“He hasn’t said that. Nobody in APC has shown interest, to my knowledge.

“Governorship of a state is a serious business. Come out openly and declare and I will believe you. As far as I am concerned, all party members have obeyed the directive.”
