Osun: Sen. Adeleke Gets Emotional, Sheds Tears On National TV (Video)
The Osun State governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke on Monday broke down in tears during an interview on television following his victory at the polls.
Adeleke while recounting the impact his late brother, Isiaka Adeleke had on him and how it propelled him to victory, could not hold back the tears.
He had to be consoled by the anchor, Naija News reports.
The Governor-elect stated during the interview that the victory at Saturday’s polls is dedicated to his late brother whom he said died in the cause of the struggle to liberate the people of Osun State.
He added however that his spirit lives on in his younger brother.
Naija News recalls the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ademola Adeleke winner of the Osun State Governorship election.
Adeleke defeated the incumbent governor of the state and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gboyega Oyetola and thirteen other candidates in the July 16th election.
The PDP governorship candidate was declared the winner at the head office of INEC in Osogbo, the state capital which was used as the collation centre.
Adeleke won 17 local government areas in the state, while the candidate of the APC, Oyetola won the remaining 13 local government areas in the state.
The incumbent governor of the state who was defeated in the election gathered 375,027 votes, while Adeleke polled 403,371 votes to win the election.
The INEC returning officer for the Osun State Governorship election, Prof Oluwatoyin Temitayo Ogundipe gave the declaration in the early hours of Sunday.
