Woman Visits Hospital With Live Snake

Pictures of a Chinese woman who walked into a hospital after a snake bite, with the snake still wrapped around her wrist has gone viral on the internet as media users praised her bravery.

The incident took place in Pujing County, China’s Zhejiang Province. The snake wrapped around her wrist was about 1.5-meters-long. And even though it was non-venomous, the woman remained calm while at the hospital. Her wound was also not serious.

What makes the pictures shocking is how the snake remains wrapped around her wrist in the emergency room.

Huang Shengqiang, the ER doctor who treated the woman, said the snake was a non-venomous red-banded snake.

Dr Huang said there was no swelling around her wound , so he gave her simple treatment.

Viral pictures taken by the medics show the patient filling out a registration form while grabbing the snake with her thumb and fingers.

In a statement by the hospital, the woman is around 20 years old. She said she was searching for her phone in the shrubs when the snake bit her and crawled to her palm, she then caught the snake.

Pujiang Hospital said its doctors had treated many patients suffering from snake bites this summer, but this was the first time that they had seen someone coming into the hospital with a live snake.
