Not less than one thousand inmates reportedly tested positive for Coronavirus disease in Califonia.

The development which was confirmed in a statement by the United States government yesterday revealed that one thousand inmates of the San Quentin prison have tested positive for the dreaded disease.

That is our deep area of focus and concern right now,” said Governor Gavin Newsom who confirmed the development. According to him, 42 per cent of some 3,500 inmates at the prison are presently considered vulnerable.

Newsom revealed that the development came following the transfer of inmates from prisons due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On his part, Matt Willis, the health director for Marin County where San Quentin prison is located, the prisoner’s were not examined before they dispersed, and hence the reason for the recorded cases.

“Unfortunately, they arrived untested and were placed within San Quentin and really kind of seeded an outbreak in a second state facility,” said Willis.

Meanwhile, about three months ago, Brazil’s President, Jair Bolsonaro has described Coronavirus pandemic as mere flu, Naija News reports.
