FRSC Warns Drivers To Avoid Overspeeding During Christmas

The Niger State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said at least 12 people have been confirmed dead in a road accident on Sunday at Sawmill village along Mokwa -Makera road in Mokwa Local Government Area of the state.

According to the FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mr. Joel Dagwa, the accident which occured on Monday in Minna involved a Truck Container with registration No. KJ 555 XX heading to Lagos.

The accident involved 103 passengers 55 females,40 males, 8 children, 5 adults, while 12 of them were killed 91 sustained injuries and taken to Mokwa general hospital for treatment and the corpses have been deposited in the hospital morgue.

He then blamed the accident on speeding on a sharp bend corner of the road and said that the Corps would continue to monitor road users to guard against overloading and dangerous driving.

He said aggressive parol has been embarked on across all major highways to ensure that road users adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations to avoid road accidents before, during and after the Christmas and New year festivities.
