Moniepoint Microfinance Bank customers can now check whether they qualify for the Federal Government’s ₦50,000 emergency relief fund and receive the money by dialling a USSD code, the bank has announced.

In a statement on Wednesday, the bank said eligible customers should dial 557327# from their registered phone numbers and choose the option to check their eligibility under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention.

Those confirmed as beneficiaries will be guided on how to accept the support, after which the money will be credited to their Moniepoint accounts free of charge.

Moniepoint said it was one of the payment platforms the Federal Government chose to disburse the relief funds, which began on Tuesday.

The scheme, coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, is designed to give cash support to vulnerable households struggling with rising living costs.

According to the bank, beneficiaries were selected through the government’s verification process using national identity records and the National Social Register.

It explained that the payments were being made in phases, so not all eligible customers would receive the funds at the same time.

The bank’s Managing Director, Babatunde Olofin, said Moniepoint would use its technology to make the process easy and secure for beneficiaries.

He cautioned customers to use only the bank’s official USSD channel, noting that no fee, extra documents or agents were needed to access the money.

Customers with questions were advised to contact the bank’s customer care team or the NERSI helpdesk.
