Wike-Backed PDP Faction Uploads Presidential Candidate’s Name On INEC’s Portal

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says it has successfully uploaded the names of its presidential candidate, running mate and National Assembly candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Candidate Nomination Portal ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Naija News reports that the faction’s National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, announced the development in a statement issued on Sunday.

He described the submission as another milestone in the party’s preparations for the 2027 polls and a demonstration of its determination to participate fully in the electoral process.

Mohammed said the successful upload reflected the leadership’s commitment to delivering on its pledge to ensure the party remained active in the forthcoming general election.

“I am pleased to inform all PDP members and Nigerians that our great Party, under my leadership, has successfully uploaded the names of our Presidential Candidate, his Running Mate, and our National Assembly candidates onto the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal,” he said.

According to him, the exercise marked another significant step in the party’s electoral preparations.

“This is a clear demonstration of our commitment to the promise we made that, under my leadership, the PDP will fully participate in the 2027 General Elections. Today, we have taken another decisive step towards fulfilling that promise,” Mohammed added.

The party chairman disclosed that the upload of governorship and State House of Assembly candidates was still ongoing.

He congratulated party members on the completion of the latest phase of the nomination process and expressed optimism about the party’s prospects.

He further stated, “As we await the conclusion of the upload of our Governorship and State Houses of Assembly candidates, I, on behalf of the National Working Committee of our Party, extend my heartfelt congratulations to all PDP members across Nigeria and around the world.

“Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more united Party and a better future for our nation.”

A screenshot of the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal released alongside the statement showed the party’s dashboard indicating that 410 new candidate forms had been generated.

According to the dashboard, 367 forms had been submitted, while 42 remained pending at the time of the announcement.
