We Are Proud Of The Commitment – NGF Reacts Oyo Pupils, Teachers’ Rescue

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has welcomed the successful rescue of the schoolchildren and teachers abducted from Oriire community in Oyo State, describing the operation as a major relief for their families and the country.

Naija News reports that the forum also congratulated President Bola Tinubu on the outcome of the operation, saying the rescue reflected months of coordinated security efforts involving multiple agencies.

In a statement issued on Friday night, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, said the governors received the news with joy and relief.

“The Forum received with joy and relief the news of the successful rescue of all the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire community in Oyo State,” the statement read.

According to the governors, the operation was the product of sustained planning, intelligence gathering and effective collaboration among security agencies.

The statement noted that the successful rescue followed “months of high-level coordination, intelligence gathering, and disciplined execution.”

NGF Congratulates Victims’ Families

The forum also rejoiced with the families of the rescued pupils and teachers, describing their reunion after weeks in captivity as a moment of great relief.

“The Forum also rejoices with the families of the victims on the successful rescue which have now reunited them with their precious children and relations,” the statement added.

The governors acknowledged the emotional and psychological burden endured by the victims’ families throughout the period of captivity and expressed hope that the rescued pupils and teachers would recover fully from their ordeal.

Governors Praise Oyo, Security Agencies

The NGF commended the Oyo State Government for working closely with the Federal Government and security agencies to secure the victims’ freedom.

It also praised the Nigerian Army, police, intelligence agencies and other security personnel involved in the operation, describing their professionalism and commitment as commendable.

“We are especially proud of the commitment and professionalism of our security forces throughout the operation,” the forum said.

The governors expressed confidence that the level of inter-agency cooperation demonstrated during the rescue would lead to more successes in the fight against kidnapping and other security threats.

“We are confident that this impressive multi-agency collaboration will yield more successes as the security forces do more to neutralise all threats and rescue our citizens who are still trapped in the den of kidnappers,” the statement added.

While sympathising with families affected by kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country, the governors appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information.

According to the forum, effective intelligence supplied by members of the public remains essential to preventing attacks and facilitating rescue operations.

“While we sincerely share in the grief of families and communities impacted by kidnapping and related incidents, we appeal to citizens to continue to support government’s efforts to protect lives and property in every part of the country, including giving timely and actionable intelligence to security agencies,” the statement said.

The NGF urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies in efforts to tackle insecurity, stressing that collective action was necessary to defeat criminal elements and ensure the safety of communities nationwide.
