Gov. Makinde Reacts To Rescue Of Oyo Schoolchildren, Teachers

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has expressed delight over the rescue of schoolchildren and teachers previously abducted from the Orire Local Government Area of the State.

He described the rescue as a big relief.

Makinde, in a phone interview with Channels Television on Friday evening, thanked President Bola Tinubu and the security forces for all the efforts that went into rescuing the victims.

The Governor said he was simply overjoyed by the victims’ safe return and promised to provide further updates later.

“We will use this opportunity to thank our service commanders, the Nigerian police, DSS, the military, and of course, the president (Tinubu) for pushing really hard to have this done.

“I am right now overjoyed. I will talk later when I can put my thoughts together,” he said.

It would be recalled that Naija News had earlier reported that the kidnapped pupils and teachers from Orire Local Government Area in Oyo State had regained their freedom after over 50 days in kidnappers’ custody.

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, made this known in a post via his 𝕏 handle on Friday.

Onanuga said the teachers and pupils were rescued by security forces.

The post read, “Finally, the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been freed by their abductors. The kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been rescued by Security Forces.

“One of the rescued teachers in Oyo sends a thank you message to President Tinubu and the security agencies.”
