PFIPC: Gbajabiamila Will Not Be Sacked – Wike

The Minsiter of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that Femi Gbajabiamila will not be sacked from his position as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.

Naija News reports that Wike spoke on Thursday during his monthly media chat in Abuja.

Speaking against the allegations of Gbajabiamila’s involvement in the scandal over a fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Wike denied any involvement by Gbajabiamila, saying he knows the Chief of Staff very well.

He also ruled out the possibility of Gbajabiamila’s suspension, despite calls from opposition parties for his suspension over links to the PFIPC scandal.

The Minister described calls from the opposition members, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, on Gbajabiamila’s suspension as rubbish.

According to him, the Chief of Staff is being targeted as a way to embarrass President Tinubu.

I know the chief of staff very, very well. He did not. People are saying the chief of staff must be sacked. By whom? The opposition? Why not form a government, and then you can sack whoever you want to sack,” Wike said.

Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a thorough investigation into the activities of a “Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council” (PFIPC) and all related matters.

Naija News reports that this was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday night by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The President directed that the investigation be concluded and a comprehensive report submitted to him within 30 days.
