Tambuwal’s Ally, Ubandoma Joins APC
The 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State and a close ally of former governor, Aminu Tambuwal, Sa’idu Umar Ubandoma, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Naija News reports that Ubandoma, a stakeholder in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto, was received into the APC by the party’s leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, at his residence in Asokoro, Abuja.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by Wamakko’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Bashar Abubakar.
Ubandoma, who served as Commissioner for Finance and later Secretary to the Sokoto State Government under the Tambuwal administration, said he joined the APC because of Wamakko’s leadership qualities and the performance of Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration.
He said the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, rural development and other sectors convinced him that the APC remained the most credible platform for Sokoto’s continued development.
Welcoming him into the party, Wamakko described the defection as a major boost to the APC. He said it reflected the growing confidence of political leaders in the ruling party.
Wamakko assured Ubandoma and his supporters of equal treatment, stressing that the APC remained open to all well-meaning citizens committed to the unity, peace and development of Sokoto State.
