Insecurity And Hardship Have Never Been This Bad In Nigeria – Dele Momodu Raises Alarm

Media entrepreneur and politician, Dele Momodu, has lamented that millions of Nigerians are struggling to survive amid difficult economic conditions.

He maintained that he had not seen hardship in Nigeria at such a level before.

Naija News reports that Momodu stated this in a video interview, arguing that the hardship being faced by citizens has reached unprecedented levels

Momodu cited the rising cost of living, worsening poverty and persistent security challenges across the country.

I have never seen Nigerians suffer at this level. The insecurity and economic hardship across the country are unprecedented.” he said

He also expressed concern over the growing insecurity in several parts of the country, saying urgent measures are needed to restore public confidence.

Insecurity and hardship have never been this bad in Nigeria’s history.” he added

Momodu called on the government to take decisive steps to address the nation’s economic and security challenges, stressing that Nigerians deserve relief from the current hardships.

Meanwhile, Momodu, has claimed that former President Muhammadu Buhari did not support Bola Tinubu’s presidential ambition at the early stage of the build-up to the 2023 general election.

Naija News reports that he also linked the political disagreement within the former administration to the problems that later affected former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

Momodu made the remarks during an interview on Nevon HQ, where he spoke about events leading to the 2023 presidential election and the relationship between key figures in Buhari’s government.

According to Momodu, information available to him showed that Buhari and some senior officials in his administration were not in favour of Tinubu becoming president.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain said the alleged division within the government later contributed to the challenges Emefiele faced during and after the election period.

He also claimed that Emefiele, Buhari and former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, were part of the same political group that did not support Tinubu’s presidential bid.

Momodu said the disagreement created tension within the government as political activities gathered pace ahead of the election.

Despite the alleged opposition, Momodu said Tinubu eventually secured victory and became Nigeria’s president.

He described Tinubu’s emergence as something he believes was destined to happen, while adding his personal opinion that the president has not made the best use of the opportunity he received.

He said, “In the last election, my information is that Buhari did not initially want Tinubu at all. That’s what led Emefiele into the crisis he found himself in because he, Buhari and the Attorney General (Malami), who is also having a crisis now, were in the same clique that didn’t want Tinubu, but somehow Tinubu is a child of destiny, I believe, whether positive or negative, I don’t know, because he has mismanaged that opportunity given to him by God.”
