Police Launch Manhunt For PFIPC DG Adeyemi
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has launched a manhunt for Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director-General of the disowned Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
A police source told Premium Times that officers visited the home of Adeyemi’s parents in Ogbomoso last Wednesday and again on Monday as part of efforts to locate him.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Adeyemi’s parents told the officers that he spent Monday and Tuesday in his hometown before leaving for Abuja on Wednesday.
The officers reportedly arrived hours after he left.
According to the source, officers who visited the house last Wednesday briefly seized the phones of Adeyemi’s parents.
On Monday, another team reportedly returned to the house, interrogated his father and requested the phone numbers used by the family to communicate with him.
The father was also said to have led the officers to another property owned by Adeyemi in the town after they asked about other houses linked to him.
Reports that Adeyemi’s father was arrested could not be independently confirmed.
Police spokesperson, Anietie Iniedu, did not respond to calls and text messages seeking comment.
Adeyemi is at the centre of the controversy surrounding the alleged creation of a fake government agency and the use of forged appointment letters.
The Presidency has disowned him and the PFIPC, insisting that no such agency exists.
Adeyemi has denied the allegations and said he will defend himself in court.
The Federal Government has filed an eight-count charge against him and two others over alleged forgery and impersonation.
The controversy became public after the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, publicly disclaimed Adeyemi and the disputed council.
Investigators are also expected to question officials and agencies that allegedly processed letters and requests linked to the PFIPC.
