Road Projects Are Part Of Tinubu’s Plan To End Insecurity – Umahi
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said that President Bola Tinubu is using road construction and repairs as part of efforts to deal with insecurity in the country.
Naija News reports that Umahi explained that the federal government is carrying out key highway projects that will also support military movement and improve access to troubled areas.
He said the idea behind the road works is not only for transport but also to help security operations move faster and reach places that are hard to access.
He made this known during the flag-off of work at Muna City Gate on the Maiduguri-Dikwa-Gamboru road over the weekend.
The project is part of ongoing road development in the North-east.
According to him, the new roads will help link communities within the region and also connect Nigeria with neighbouring countries such as Chad and Cameroon.
He added that this will improve trade and daily movement for people living in those areas.
Umahi also said the roads will make it easier for security agencies to operate by improving logistics and access to border communities where insecurity has been a concern for years.
He said: “These road infrastructure projects are part of President Tinubu’s bigger plan to tackle insecurity.
“When these projects are done, the people in the North-east will benefit because they connect to Chad and Cameroon.
“But the bigger point is that our military will have roads to fight against whatever remains of the insurgency.”
