Abia PDP Rules Out Alliance Ahead Of 2027 Elections
The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed suggestions that it is planning an alliance with any political party ahead of the 2027 elections in the state.
The state Chairman of the PDP, Abraham Amah, stated this on Thursday at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia while responding to questions on a possible political alliance involving the party.
Amah described the PDP in Abia as strong, united and ready for the 2027 electoral contest, insisting that anyone issuing statements in support of an alliance was not speaking for the party.
The PDP chairman said the party had successfully uploaded the names of its candidates for various elective positions and was prepared to contest the elections without seeking support from any other political party.
He also said the PDP would not donate its platform to any political party or group.
“As far as we are concerned, as at today, we do not have any agreement with any other political party.
“Am privileged to know what is happening at the party, not only in the State but at the national level. So we do not have any such agreement with anybody,” Amah said.
Amah also dismissed claims of factionalisation within the Abia PDP, saying the candidates of the party under his leadership had already been uploaded on the official portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
He added that the state leadership had begun reconciling aggrieved aspirants who participated in the party’s primary elections.
According to him, the reconciliation process was necessary to keep the party united and focused ahead of the polls.
Earlier, the PDP governorship candidate in Abia State, Kelechi Anosike, said he would pay civil servants a minimum wage of ₦90,000 if elected governor.
Anosike criticised the salary payment system of the current state government, alleging that the administration was not paying the ₦70,000 minimum wage across board.
He said his administration would prioritise workers’ welfare and ensure a fairer salary structure for civil servants in the state.
