They Shot At Our Car – Falz Recounts How He Was Attacked By Bandits On Highway
Nigerian rapper Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has shared how he and members of his team were attacked and robbed by armed bandits while travelling along the Abuja–Lokoja Expressway.
Naija News reports that he spoke about the incident on the Afropolitan podcast, saying they were travelling when they came under sudden gunfire from armed attackers.
He explained that most of the people in the vehicle were asleep when a loud sound woke them up.
Falz said they first heard a loud impact before realising they were under attack.
According to him, the situation became clear when they saw armed men on the road carrying rifles and blocking their path.
The actor said the attackers opened fire on their vehicle, and everyone inside was in danger as bullets hit the car.
Falz said: “I was awake and it was going. Obviously, we were asleep, so we didn’t know what happened. We just heard a loud bang. Everyone woke up and looked ahead. We saw these turban-tying, AK-47-wielding, dangerous-looking men in the middle of the expressway. The first bang we heard was actually a gunshot. They had shot at our car.
“The second bullet came flying through the middle of the vehicle. Everything happened within four or five seconds. The first thing the man asked me was, ‘Where is the money?’ I kept begging him, telling him there was no money.
“They started bringing out the bags, cutting them open and searching everywhere for money. When I heard the siren, I thought help had arrived. Instead, they increased the gunfire before eventually leaving us there. I was trying to stop cars and tell them we’d just been robbed. Not a single person stopped.”
