‘Gbajabiamila Must Be Sacked’ – Atiku’s Aide Reacts To Presidency’s Defence On Alleged Bribery Scandal
The Senior Political Assistant to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) 2027 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Demola Olarenwaju, has called for the sack of President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Naija News reports that this follows controversy involving the acclaimed Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, Adeniyi Matthew, who recently accused Gbajabiamila of involvement in an alleged appointment-for-cash scandal.
Matthew alleged that Gbajabiamila demanded ₦27.4 billion from the take-off grant of a purported agency and collected ₦400 million, through proxies, to secure his appointment as director-general of the agency.
But the presidency, in an official statement on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, denied the claim, stating that the accuser and the purported agency are unknown to the government.
However, Olarenwaju, in a post via his 𝕏 handle, suggested that if Mathew scammed himself into Nigeria’s budget, then Gbajabiamila must be sacked for negligence and lack of diligence.
According to Atiku’s aide, Gbajabiamila should be prosecuted if he conspired with Mathew to commit the fraud.
He wrote: “By the watery presidential rebuttal, Gbajabiamila is either guilty of connivance or guilty of negligence, no two ways about it.
“If that fellow scammed himself into Nigeria’s budget, then Gbajabiamila must be sacked for negligence and lack of due diligence.
“If the fellow connived with him in the scam as we suspect by evidence, Gbaja should be prosecuted. Either ways: this Thief of Staff must be punished.”
