FCTA Commences Promotion Exercise For 13,000 Workers

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has begun its promotion exercise for more than 13,000 civil servants working in the FCTA and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Engr. Emeka Ezeh, announced that the exercise received approval from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Naija News reports that the promotion process started on Wednesday, July 1, and will last for 10 days.

According to the commission, over 13,000 workers from about 150 different cadres and grade levels will take part in the exercise.

The commission said the approval is part of efforts to improve career growth for workers in the FCT public service.

It also disclosed that the minister directed that the 2026 promotion exercise should be completed before the end of the year so that all qualified officers would have the chance to advance in their careers without unnecessary delays.

The minister also instructed the commission to work closely with all relevant agencies under the FCTA to ensure the exercise runs smoothly.

He asked officials to prevent the problems experienced during previous promotion exercises from happening again.

Ezeh said all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a successful exercise.

He appealed to participants to remain calm and cooperate throughout the process while wishing them success in the computer-based promotion examination.

The FCT Civil Service Commission introduced computer-based testing for promotion exercises in 2024, becoming the first civil service commission in the country to adopt the method.
