Court Reserves Judgement In ₦6 Billion Mompha Trial
Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos State Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja has reserved judgment until October 15, 2026, in the alleged ₦6 billion money laundering case involving social media personality, Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha.
Naija News recalls that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), arraigned Mompha alongside his company, Ismalob Global Investment Limited, on January 12, 2022, on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy to launder funds allegedly obtained through unlawful activities, retention of proceeds of criminal conduct, failure to disclose assets, and possession of documents containing false pretences, among other offences.
Justice Dada has now reserved judgment till October 2026 to rule on the matter.
Meanwhile, the EFCC Lagos Zonal Directorate 1, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, arraigned one Sarumi Samusudeen Babafemi for an alleged ₦206,000,000 (Two Hundred and Six Million Naira) fraud before Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos.
Babafemi alongside his companies, 606 Autos Limited, 606 Music Limited, and Splash Off Entertainment Limited, were arraigned on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, concealment, and transfer of proceeds of crime to the tune of ₦206,000,000 (Two Hundred and Six Million Naira), contrary to Section 332(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, and punishable under Section 332(3) of the same law.
According to the EFCC, Babafemi is an associate of Ismaila Mustapha, a.k.a Mompha, a Nigerian social media celebrity known for flaunting luxury lifestyles and currently embroiled in a high-profile money laundering trial with the EFCC.
