CJN To Swear In New Supreme Court Justice

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, will on Thursday swear in Justice Joseph Olubunmi Kayode Oyewole as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Naija News understands that the ceremony is scheduled to hold at Courtroom Two of the Supreme Court complex, Abuja, by 2:00pm.

Justice Oyewole was elevated from the Court of Appeal, where he served as a justice and Presiding Justice of the Enugu Division before his appointment to the apex court.

In a statement signed by the Supreme Court’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Dr Festus Akande, the court said Oyewole’s appointment reflects the judiciary’s commitment to strengthening the bench with experienced and dedicated jurists.

The apex court said the new justice brings extensive legal experience and integrity to the Supreme Court.

It added that his expertise is expected to enhance the court’s capacity to deliver fair, timely and impartial judgments.

The Supreme Court described the swearing-in as another step towards rejuvenating the judiciary and reinforcing judicial independence, rule of law and access to justice for Nigerians.

Guests attending the ceremony are expected to comply with the court’s security arrangements and protocols.
