Rarara Blames Kwankwaso For Nigeria’s Economic Woes
Popular political singer, Dauda Kahutu, popularly known as Rarara, has accused former Kano State governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Kwankwaso, of contributing to some of the economic and administrative challenges facing Nigeria.
According to Daily Trust, Rarara made the allegation during an interview with an online platform, SL Update, where he argued that many of the country’s current problems were rooted in past policies and decisions.
The musician identified the alleged withholding and control of local government funds by higher levels of government as one of the major causes of underdevelopment at the grassroots.
He said, “Local government funds are the lifeline of the people. They are what bring government services closer to ordinary citizens at the grassroots level. When those funds are withheld or controlled elsewhere, essential services meant for the people are affected.”
According to him, the practice weakened local councils and denied them the capacity to execute projects that directly affect rural communities.
Rarara further claimed that the lack of financial autonomy for local governments had slowed development in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, water supply and rural infrastructure.
He maintained that Nigeria could only achieve sustainable development and economic growth when local governments are allowed to manage their resources without undue interference.
He added that granting councils full control of their funds would help bring governance closer to the people and improve service delivery across the country.
