2027: ‘Tinubu Will Try To Rig’ – Melaye
Former federal lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, has expressed fear that President Bola Tinubu may lead Nigeria to a “war path” if the 2027 presidential election is rigged in his favour.
Naija News reports that Melaye made the claim in a video posted on his Facebook page on Saturday, where he warned that any attempt to manipulate the outcome of the next general election would be strongly resisted.
The former Kogi West senator said the opposition would not fold its arms if the will of the people was subverted.
Melaye alleged that Tinubu would attempt to rig the 2027 election, but warned that such a move could trigger serious consequences for the country.
He said, “My fear is very simple: that Tinubu may lead this country to a war path because he will try to rig, but there will be vehement resistance.
“At the end of the day, we may have a president who will run away because we are not backing down.”
The former lawmaker said the opposition remained committed to standing with Nigerians and speaking against what he described as oppression by those in power.
Melaye accused the political class of oppressing the majority of Nigerians, saying those in power represented only a tiny fraction of the population.
He said the people would resist any attempt to impose leadership on them through electoral manipulation.
Melaye further stated, “We are with the people, and we will speak as a people. Those in power in this country are less than one per cent of the population.
“It is an absurdity that one per cent is oppressing 99 per cent. We will prove that what happened in Indonesia can happen in Nigeria.”
