‘Nobody Is Safe Now’ – 100-Year-Old Woman Begs Tinubu To Fix Nigeria’s Insecurity
A centenarian voter in Ekiti State, Madam Oyedade, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu and State governors to take urgent steps to tackle the worsening insecurity in the country.
Naija News reports that Oyedade, during an interview with Vanguard while awaiting accreditation at Polling Unit 001, Aye Ward, Aye Ekiti, in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State, said it is a pity that no Nigerian feels safe anymore.
The 100-year-old woman said she turned out to vote because she wanted the most qualified candidate to win the governorship election.
She said, “I came out to vote because I want the best candidate to emerge.
“I want to appeal to President Bola Tinubu and the state governors in the country to urgently find a lasting solution to insecurity.
“Nobody is safe now in Nigeria. It’s a pity.”
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Wole Oluyede, on Saturday criticised the performance of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System at his polling unit, saying the device delayed accreditation and voting.
Oluyede spoke after casting his vote at Unit 6, Ward 3, Osagburu Family Hall, in Ikere-Ekiti.
The PDP candidate lamented that the BVAS device was malfunctioning, resulting in a slow accreditation process.
As of the time he spoke, only six voters had reportedly been accredited since voting commenced at 8:30 am.
INEC officials were seen making efforts to rectify the situation and ensure the device functioned effectively. Reacting to the development, Oluyede described the process as unacceptable.
