Tears As Alexx Ekubo’s Body Arrives Arochukwu For Burial

Family members, friends and colleagues on Thursday gathered in Arochukwu, Abia State, to receive the body of late Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo, ahead of his burial.

Naija News reports that the actor’s body arrived in his hometown in a convoy and made a brief stop at the palace of the Eze Arochukwu before being moved to his family compound.

Ekubo, who died on May 11 at the age of 40, was scheduled to be buried on June 18 in Arochukwu, according to funeral arrangements earlier released by his family.

Residents of the community joined Nollywood stars and other sympathisers in a procession through the village to honour the late actor.

Many of the mourners wore T-shirts bearing Ekubo’s face, while others held his photographs as they paid their last respects.

Among the notable personalities present were his close friend, IK Ogbonna, as well as Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli and Yomi Casual.

The late actor, who reportedly died after a private battle with kidney cancer, is survived by his wife, parents and siblings.

After the burial service, a reception will follow immediately after the interment at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, Abia State.
