Tinubu Demographically Defeated, He Doesn’t Know What Is Happenings In The North – Adebayo

The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 election, Adewole Adebayo, has said President Bola Tinubu has already lost the 2027 presidential election.

Naija News reports that Adebayo made the claim during an interview on Symfoni TV aired on Wednesday, where he spoke on the state of the nation and the build-up to the next general election.

The SDP chieftain said Nigeria needed fresh leadership, arguing that the current administration had lost public goodwill across the country.

Adebayo said Tinubu’s political chances ahead of 2027 had been weakened by what he described as demographic, economic and political realities.

According to him, the President no longer enjoys the level of support required to win a fresh national mandate.

“President Tinubu is already defeated. You know what they said about Boko Haram last time being technically defeated? President Tinubu has been demographically, economically, politically defeated,” Adebayo said.

He argued that the President’s hope of returning to office would depend largely on confusion within the opposition and a possible crisis in the transition process ahead of the election.

But what he’s hoping on is a truncated transition programme where one party will have two candidates and will be in court. So, they will be distracting you,” he added.

The former presidential candidate also claimed that Tinubu’s popularity had declined across major regions of the country.

Adebayo said the President had disappointed many Nigerians who expected better governance and economic relief from his administration.

“President Tinubu is not popular in the South, he doesn’t understand what’s going on in the North. He’s a disappointment in the West. He’s an anathema in the East and the center cannot hold for him,” he said.

He maintained that Nigerians had become increasingly dissatisfied with the government and were looking for an alternative ahead of the 2027 election.

Adebayo further accused the ruling party of relying on voter apathy, poverty and inducement rather than performance to retain power.

He said Tinubu’s camp was hoping that many Nigerians would be too frustrated and disillusioned to participate actively in the next election.

“So, what he is hoping on is that the Nigerian people be so disillusioned, so annoyed, so hopeless that they won’t bother to come out because he will now be able to pass together his ‘Renewed Hopelessness’ ambassadors and then get them to distribute rice to the impoverished Nigerians,” he said.

The SDP chieftain’s remarks are expected to add to the growing political debate ahead of the 2027 general election, as opposition figures continue to criticise the Tinubu administration over the economy, insecurity and governance.

Speaking further, Adebayo said the country required new hands to pilot its affairs, insisting that the present leadership had failed to inspire confidence among citizens.

He said the next election would provide Nigerians with an opportunity to choose leaders capable of addressing the country’s economic and social challenges.

The SDP candidate maintained that the electorate must not allow frustration, poverty or political confusion to stop them from participating in the democratic process.

He urged Nigerians to remain politically conscious and demand accountable leadership as the country moves closer to another election cycle.
