Zamfara: Governor Lawal Reshuffles Cabinet, Appoints Three Officials

The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle involving three commissioners as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery in the state.

The governor also approved the appointment of three officials into key government positions.

Naija News reports that the development was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media in the Office of the SSG, Suleman Ahmad Tudu.

Nakwada said the changes were aimed at repositioning key ministries for greater efficiency and effective implementation of the administration’s Rescue Agenda.

Under the reshuffle, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Abdulrahman Tumbido, was moved to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Kasimu Yahya Kaura, was redeployed to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

Also, Hon. Tasiu Musa Shinkafi was moved from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The state government said the redeployments took immediate effect.

The affected commissioners have been directed to complete their handing-over processes within one week.

According to the SSG, the reshuffle was not only meant to improve coordination across the affected ministries but also to ensure better performance in line with the governor’s development priorities.

He said the administration remained committed to strengthening public institutions and ensuring that ministries deliver on their mandates.

In a related development, Governor Lawal approved the appointment of Dr Muhammad Habibu Yelwa as Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Substance Abuse and Control Agency.

The governor also appointed Dr Usman Ismaila Gusau as Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Livestock Agency.

In addition, Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammed Nakwada was reappointed as the State Project Coordinator of the Zamfara State Agricultural and Community Development Project.

Nakwada said the appointments were part of ongoing efforts to strengthen government reforms and improve service delivery in key sectors.

He said the new appointments would support public health, agriculture, livestock development and community-based interventions across the state.

The SSG urged the appointees to bring innovation, dedication and renewed commitment to their new assignments.

He added that they were expected to work in line with the administration’s development agenda and contribute meaningfully to the implementation of Governor Lawal’s Rescue Agenda.

The state government said the cabinet changes and appointments reflected the governor’s commitment to repositioning the administration for better results.

It added that the affected ministries and agencies were expected to intensify efforts toward delivering programmes that would benefit residents of the state.
