Peter Obi Has Found A Haven In NDC – Atiku’s Aide
Special Assistant to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, has stated that former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi’s exit from the ADC was not a loss to the party.
Naija News reports that Obi and former presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabi’u Kwankwaso, dumped the ADC for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), citing internal divisions and court cases.
Speaking during an interview on Trust TV on Sunday, Shaibu said Obi was having fun in the NDC.
Airing his own opinion, Atiku’s aide said, “I don’t see Peter Obi’s exit as a loss to the ADC. Peter has found a haven in the NDC or wherever he is. He’s simply having fun there.
“Let me tell you something. In that place, they have what we call the office of the Supreme Leader.
“That’s the only party in Nigeria where I have not seen the party officials. I’ve never heard the party chairman. I’ve never heard of the party secretary. I only hear from their Supreme Leader.”
Meanwhile, Shaibu, has dismissed claims by the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, that the presidential primary that produced his principal as the party’s candidate for the 2027 general elections was fraudulent.
Naija News reports that Lawal claimed that Atiku’s supporters had rigged the ADC primary
However, speaking during an appearance on Channels Television on Wednesday, Shaibu insisted that the election was credible.
“Anybody who claims rigging or irregularity in the last election should check the places and locations they won. Where are the states that Rotimi Amaechi won? If you check the figures and the margins he got there, you will know that those are his strongholds. It was not a fraudulent process,” he said.
Shaibu maintained that the burden of proving the allegations rests on Lawal.
According to him, Atiku was the most popular among the contestants, which included former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, making his victory unsurprising.
The aide likened Lawal’s reaction to that of a baby throwing tantrums after being deprived of its mother’s breast.
“Babachir reminds me of a baby who is yanked off her mother’s breast while suckling. It is like a deprived suckling; definitely, the baby will throw tantrums. He admitted on your show that his preferred candidate was Hayatu-Deen. He worked for him,” Shaibu said.
