DHQ Delegation Visits Family Of Late Maj. Gen. Rabe Abubakar
A delegation from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Sunday paid condolence visits to the family of the late Maj. Gen. Rabe Abubakar (retd.) and the Katsina State Government following the retired officer’s death.
Naija News reports that the delegation was led by the Chief of Administration (Army), Maj. Gen. I.M. Abdullahi.
In a statement, the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, said the delegation conveyed the condolences of the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. O.O. Oluyede, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the bereaved family, as well as the government and people of Katsina State.
At the family residence in Katsina, Abdullahi described the late Abubakar as a dedicated and patriotic officer who served Nigeria with distinction in several capacities throughout his military career.
He said the deceased made significant contributions to the development of the Nigerian Army and the country’s security architecture.
Abdullahi also assured the family of the military’s continued support during the mourning period.
According to him, Abubakar served the Nigerian Army and the nation meritoriously for over three decades, leaving behind a legacy that would continue to inspire officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces.
Military Presents Flag To Family
The delegation later presented a national flag to the family in recognition of the late officer’s service and sacrifice to the nation.
Responding on behalf of the family, Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma, the Gado da Masun Katsina, thanked the Chief of Defence Staff and the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their support and solidarity.
He also appreciated the military for standing by the family during the difficult period and prayed for the peaceful repose of Abubakar’s soul.
Earlier, the delegation paid a condolence visit to the Katsina State Government House, where they were received by the Deputy Governor, Mallam Faruk Lawal Jobe, on behalf of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
During the visit, Abdullahi conveyed the condolences of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the governor, government and people of Katsina State over the loss of one of the state’s distinguished sons.
In his remarks, the deputy governor described Abubakar’s death as a painful loss to Katsina State and Nigeria.
He said the late officer’s commitment to national service and security would remain a source of inspiration for future generations.
Jobe called for greater collaboration among stakeholders to tackle security challenges and criminal activities across the state and the country.
He also assured the military of the Katsina State Government’s continued support for ongoing security operations aimed at restoring peace and stability in the North-West.
Abdullahi thanked the state government for supporting the military in the fight against insecurity, stressing that cooperation between the military and state authorities remained vital to achieving lasting peace in the region.
Special prayers were offered at both the family residence and the Government House for the peaceful repose of the late Maj. Gen. Rabe Abubakar.
Those present during the visits included the Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma, Maj. Gen. W.B. Idris; General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Maj. Gen. B.P. Koughna; Rear Admiral A.M. Haruna; Air Vice Marshal A.Y. Abdullahi; Maj. Gen. J.S. Bindawa (retd.); Brig. Gen. S.K. Usman (retd.); and Air Vice Marshal I.S. Kaita (retd.).
Family members, traditional rulers and other prominent sons of Katsina State also attended the visits.
