Boko Haram Terrorists Invade Borno, Burn Schools
Suspected members of the Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist groups have carried out another dastardly attack on certain schools located in Borno State.
Naija News understands that the terrorists on Saturday, set ablaze primary and secondary schools in Kautikari village, Chibok local government area of Borno State.
According to security sources quoted by Daily Trust on the development, the attackers invaded the town, which has suffered multiple attacks, around 7pm on Saturday.
Though no casualty was reported, the incident forced residents of the area to flee to nearby bushes.
“No casualty so far but residents were forced to flee into the bush for safety,” one of the sources said.
A resident also disclosed that this is not the first time the terrorists have attacked the village, but this time around, they destroyed both private and public property.
“I wonder why they set ablaze the Primary School and Day Secondary School. Such attacks are unusual,” he said.
All efforts to speak to the Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, were not successful as his phone was unreachable.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has disclosed that leadership often entails many unexpected challenges.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by prominent sons and daughters of Gubio Local Government Area, alongside the 2027 All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, Mustapha Gubio, Zulum identified insecurity as the greatest challenge he has faced since assuming office in 2019.
He also disclosed that he saw his children only three times during the first 55 days of becoming the Governor of Borno.
Governor Zulum added that the demands of tackling Borno’s security and humanitarian crises required enormous personal sacrifices but noted that things are getting better.
