Atiku’s Aide Speaks On Ex-Vice President’s Meeting With Amaechi
Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, visited the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, in Abuja earlier in the week amid intensifying consultations over the party’s 2027 presidential ticket.
The meeting came as discussions continued over the choice of Atiku’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
Naija News understands that Atiku emerged as the ADC presidential candidate after defeating Amaechi and former economic adviser, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, at the party’s presidential primary.
The Senior Special Assistant to Atiku on Public Communications, Phrank Shaibu, described the meeting as part of ongoing consultations aimed at building a stronger Nigeria.
In an interview with Punch, Shaibu said Atiku regularly engages political leaders and stakeholders on issues affecting the country.
Shaibu said, “His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, regularly engages with political leaders, stakeholders, and eminent Nigerians on issues concerning the future of our country. As you are aware, Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi remains a respected political figure and a key stakeholder in the national conversation.
“The meeting forms part of the ongoing consultations among patriotic Nigerians committed to rescuing the country from its current challenges and building a stronger democratic alternative ahead of 2027.”
Since the ADC presidential primary, attention has shifted to the selection of a vice-presidential candidate who can strengthen the party’s national appeal ahead of the general election.
Amaechi is among the leading names reportedly being considered for the position.
