Boko Haram Frees 416 Abducted Ngoshe Women, Children

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have released 416 women and children abducted from the Ngoshe community in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Naija News reports that the President of the Borno South Youth Alliance, Samaila Kaigama, confirmed the development on Sunday.

Kaigama said the captives were released on June 6.

According to him, BOSYA had been involved in efforts to secure the freedom of the abductees.

He said, “BOSYA has secured the release of all the Ngoshe 416 women and children. They were released 06 of June.

“We are happy and grateful that through our efforts, our persistent cries, and long discussions, the results are now being seen.”

Kaigama called on the Federal Government, Borno State Government and the relevant local government authorities to ensure proper screening of the released captives.

Efforts to get a reaction from the Borno State Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Usman Tar, were unsuccessful, as several calls to him went unanswered as of press time.

On March 4, Boko Haram terrorists reportedly attacked a military base in Ngoshe.

The insurgents were said to have burnt operational vehicles, dispersed security forces, killed an unspecified number of people and abducted several residents.

Previous reports had indicated that BOSYA had been communicating with the press and serving as an intermediary between the terrorist group and the affected victims after Boko Haram displayed the abducted captives.
