Zamfara ADC Gov Candidate Denies Withdrawal From Race
The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Zamfara State, Mahadi Aliyu Gusau, has dismissed reports that he has withdrawn from the race.
Naija News reports that Gusau described the reports as false, malicious and misleading.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Press Secretary, Salisu Mohammed.
According to Mohammed, the claim was sponsored by desperate political actors seeking to mislead the public and create confusion.
“We wish to categorically state that this report is false, baseless, mischievous, and the handiwork of desperate political elements whose sole objective is to mislead the public, create confusion within the polity, and undermine the democratic process,” the statement read.
The statement insisted that Gusau remains the authentic governorship candidate of the ADC in Zamfara State.
It said he had not withdrawn from the contest and had not authorised anyone to make such a claim on his behalf.
The statement added, “At no time has he withdrawn his candidature, nor has he authorised any individual or group to speak on his behalf regarding such a matter.
“Any publication, statement, or social media post suggesting otherwise should be disregarded by party members, supporters, stakeholders, INEC and the general public.”
