Insecurity: ‘I Don’t Believe Security Agencies Cannot Locate Bandits’ – Buratai

Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Turkur Buratai, has claimed that the Nigerian military has the capacity to locate bandits if it can locate ordinary citizens of the country.

Naija News recalls that gunmen whisked away schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State and later beheaded one of the teachers.

Speaking on the development, Buratai, in an interview on TVC, admitted that the Nigerian troops have the capacity to rescue the abducted Oyo schoolchildren and teachers.

He said, “I don’t believe security agencies cannot locate bandits if they can locate ordinary citizens and social media influencers.

“However, I would not like to say a capacity building challenge, but I think they may have their reasons, but what I know is that there must be capacity building of all the security agencies.

“We need more troops to be recruited, more operatives, more policemen need to be recruited, trained and retrained.”

Meanwhile, former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, has alleged that the recent kidnapping of pupils and teachers in Orire Local Government Area might have been orchestrated by the Oyo State government.

He alleged the complicity of the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, in the kidnapping incident, which has continued to cause ruffles across the country.

Fayose made the allegation on Monday while speaking during an interview on Channels Television.

According to him, the kidnapping might have been planned to blackmail President Bola Tinubu.

Fayose, who had earlier praised Tinubu’s efforts in managing the affairs of Nigeria since he became President, said the timing of the Oyo kidnap raised suspicion about Makinde’s probable involvement.
