Kano Gov, Yusuf Makes Request From Kwankwaso
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has appealed to the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to set aside his grievances and support his administration’s efforts to build a new Kano.
Naija News reports that Yusuf said the interest of the state should be placed above personal considerations.
The governor spoke on Friday during the annual Hawan Nassarawa, where he said his major mission was to build a united, peaceful and progressive Kano.
Yusuf urged Kwankwaso to join hands with his administration in the interest of peace and development.
He stated, “I call on him to look at Kano, not personal interests, and come on board to join the train of peace and a new Kano that will ensure a stable and progressive state.
“When we had a programme some days ago, I looked around and saw that almost everybody was there except Kwankwaso. Even governors who had problems with their deputies reconciled on that day.”
The governor commended the Emir of Kano for his wise counsel but said he had never been afraid of anyone.
“I have never feared anybody in my life. My humility is not cowardice but a reflection of my good nature and closeness to the people,” Yusuf said.
He said his administration inherited a state in decay and had introduced measures to correct the situation without creating rancour.
“When we came into office, we met things in decay. That was why we introduced several measures to correct the ills without any rancour,” he said.
Yusuf Speaks On Killings, Durbar
The governor said his administration had made efforts to prevent violence in the state.
“If we had met Kano in its former state, we would have taken measures against anybody who wanted to create problems. We tried to stop the killings, just like what happened two years ago; that was why we shunned the Hawan Daushe,” he said.
Yusuf assured the Emir that he would remain on the throne. He also said a day would come for a durbar “that will shake the world.”
The governor said most of his advisers were performing well, but warned that some were trying to create problems within the government.
According to him, 85 per cent of his advisers were doing well, while about 15 per cent were working against the administration.
“Be warned, we are watching. Sooner rather than later, we are coming for you, and you will see the consequences of your negative actions,” he warned.
