Tyson Fury Confirms Dublin Fight Ahead Of Anthony Joshua Showdown

Tyson Fury has confirmed he will return to the ring in Dublin on August 1 as preparations gather pace for a long-awaited heavyweight clash with Anthony Joshua later this year.

Tyson Fury, 36, revealed the date in a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday from his training camp in Thailand. Fury captioned the post: “Let’s go August 1, Dublin, Ireland.”

An opponent has yet to be announced, although promoter Frank Warren had earlier hinted that confirmation was close.

Fury’s latest outing forms part of a wider build-up in boxing’s heavyweight division. Joshua is also set for a warm-up fight, with the former world champion due to face Albanian boxer Kristian Prenga in Riyadh on July 25 before talks over a potential blockbuster bout with Fury intensify.

The Dublin event had already been scheduled before Fury’s involvement became public, with Ireland’s Pierce O’Leary lined up to face Mark Chamberlain on the same card. Fury is now expected to headline the night.

The former WBC heavyweight champion last fought on April 11 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he secured a points victory over Russia’s Arslanbek Makhmudov.

Makhmudov lasted the full 12 rounds, but Fury dominated the game from start to finish. Two judges scored the fight 120-108, while the third returned a 119-109 card.

Warren has spoken confidently about Fury’s return and the direction of the heavyweight division, though immediate attention remains on naming an opponent for the Dublin bout before focus shifts fully to Joshua.
