Aiyedatiwa Approves Federal Salary Structure For Ondo Health Workers

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the use of the reviewed federal salary structure for medical officers and other health workers in the state.

Naija News reports that the decision is part of efforts to improve healthcare services and make work in the sector more attractive.

The State Head of Service, Bayo Philip, announced the approval in Akure during an annual get-together and send-off event for retired permanent secretaries and tutors-general.

He said the move would improve workers’ morale and help increase productivity in the health sector. He also noted that the state government plans to employ more staff to reduce manpower shortages in public hospitals.

Philip praised Governor Aiyedatiwa for focusing on workers’ welfare, including regular payment of retirement benefits and expansion of the civil service.

He explained that about 5,000 new workers have already been employed to improve service delivery across different sectors in the state.

He added that terminal benefits for retired permanent secretaries are now being paid without delay. He also mentioned that accommodation support had been approved for about 150 retired graduate headmasters whose cases had been pending since 2009, adding that some of them had died while waiting for help.

The Head of Service encouraged retired permanent secretaries to continue contributing to government work through mentoring and advisory support, saying their experience is still useful to the system.
