Momodu Speaks On Jonathan Contesting Against Atiku, Others

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has said a possible return of former President Goodluck Jonathan to the presidential race would make the 2027 election more interesting.

Naija News reports that Momodu said Jonathan, as a former President, still had a political network and should not be dismissed. He spoke on Arise TV in response to speculation about Jonathan’s possible political comeback.

The veteran journalist praised Jonathan’s courage to consider returning to the presidential contest after leaving office in 2015.

Momodu said, “A former President of Nigeria must have his network; it makes the race more exciting for me.

“I salute his courage, because it takes courage to come back to say you want to be the President of Nigeria after you’ve left since 2015. That’s some 11 years ago.

“As for us at ADC, we welcome President Goodluck Jonathan anytime. We are ready to meet him on the day of election.”

Momodu Backs Atiku

Momodu also restated his support for former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, describing him as a resilient and experienced politician.

He said Atiku’s long presence in national politics made him a unifying figure.

Momodu said, “Atiku has been a man of destiny from the beginning. He is still standing. It tells you that he has the hand of God in his life.

“I have no doubt in my mind that if he is destined to be the next president of Nigeria, Nigerians are going to see the goodness in this good man and they are going to support him.

“As for me, I will support him wholeheartedly because I’ve studied him, and he is the kind of bridge builder that we need at this time in Nigeria.”

Momodu described Atiku as a model of tenacity and democratic values.

He added, “We need him as an example of tenacity. We need him as an example of a man who knows that democracy is not a fight; it is about doing the right things.

“And I salute him. He’s my role model.”
